How to use the Assam Schedule of Rates
The schedule of rates for rural roads sets the department's accepted rate for each item of work, and estimates for Assam government projects are built by mapping a project's Bill of Quantities to these items. Rates here run from ₹1.80 per sqm to ₹6,91,436.00 each, spanning 18 chapters from earthwork through to finishing trades.
Three things routinely go wrong. Estimators price against a superseded edition, because correction slips are published separately from the main schedule. They pick a nearly-similar item code rather than the exact one, which survives internal review and fails departmental scrutiny. And they miss that a rate is quoted for a different unit than the BOQ uses — a sqm rate applied to a each quantity is a large error that looks reasonable on a spreadsheet.
For the schedules published by every other state, see the Schedule of Rates by state directory, and for how SOR items relate to a tender's BOQ, the guide to SOR vs BOQ.
Pricing a live tender against this schedule
Mapping a tender BOQ to the right SOR items by hand, applying the current cost index, and catching where rates have moved since the base edition is slow and easy to get wrong. Arched's estimation engine reads the tender, maps it to the applicable schedule, and flags where the numbers are exposed before submission.
