Under the CPWD Delhi Analysis of Rates 2023 (Civil), item 10.25.1 — Steel work welded in built up sections/ framed work, including cutting, hoisting, fixing in position and applying a priming coat of approved steel primer using structural steel etc. as required In stringers, treads, landings etc. of stair cases, including use of chequered plate wherever required, all complete — is derived from 10 priced inputs for 5.331 quintal and works out to ₹123.60 per quintal after water charges, GST, CPOH and cess. The full build-up is below.
- Consider a flight of staircase of 2.8m height
- with tread and riser of 200mm & 0.60m
- wide.
- (i) Unequal angles as stringers-75x50x6mm
- 4x12.69x5.6 = 284.25 Kg.
- Total = 298.46kg. Say 2.985q
- (ii) unequal angles at sides -50x30x5mm
- 2x14x0.2x3.00=16.8kg.
- Total = 17.64 kg. Say 0.176q
- Total = 3.161q
- (iii) plate for tread 8mm thick
- 14x7.5 = 105.00kg+
- Total = 110.25kg. Say 1.103q
- (iv) G.I. pipe for rolling 40mm
- 2x12.69m = 25.38m+
- Total = 26.65m
- (v) M.S. round bars 16mm dia.
- 15x0.75x2x1.58 = 35.55kg.+
- Total = 37.33 Kg. Say 0.373q
- 23.20 m = 2320cm
- Applying priming coat
- (i) steps 2.4x14 = 33.60sqm.+
- (ii) angles-4x12.69x0.25 = 12.69sqm.+
- (iii) Bars and other components =
- 2.00 sqm. (L.S.)
- Total = 48.29 sqm
- Add wastage @ 5% = 14.21 Kg.
- Add wastage @ 5% = 0.84kg.
- Add wastage @ 5% = 5.25kg.
- Add wastage @ 5% = 1.27m
- Add wastage @ 5% = 1.78kg.

Use this rate in a live estimate
This is the CPWD base analysis. A real estimate adjusts it for the project's inputs and the current cost index, then maps it to the tender's BOQ. Arched reads the tender, maps it to the applicable schedule, and flags where the numbers are exposed before submission.
